APPSC Group 2 notification 2026: what is out

APPSC has not yet issued the 2026 Group 2 notification. G.O.Ms.No.81 of 22 August 2026 sets it for 15 October 2026, with 673 posts. On 15 September the commission issued 20 brief notifications, including Group 1 notification 07/2026, and Group 2 was not among them. No Group 2 application or exam date has been announced.

The last Group 2 cycle and the 2026 record so far. The marked row is the next dated step.

The date and the post count both come from the government's order. The commission's own notification can change them. Group 1 went from 149 posts in the order to 163 provisional vacancies in its brief notification of 15 September and 166 in its detailed notification of 6 October, and the last Group 2 notification advertised 899 posts and was later revised to 905. So plan around 673, and take the count you apply under from the notification.

Until then, notification 11/2023 is the rulebook to work from. Its age, degree and fee rules are set out below, and the 2026 notification will restate or change them. Last time the Screening came 80 days after the notification, so most reading for it happens before the notification appears.

APPSC Group 2 posts and salary in hand

APPSC Group 2 has 673 posts in twelve jobs for 2026. Deputy Tahsildar has 200 and Deputy Mandal Parishad Development Officer (Deputy MPDO) 176. A Deputy Tahsildar starts on 44,570 basic on the 2022 scale, about 68,330 gross a month in a district headquarters by our estimate. The salary in hand is lower, after deductions we do not estimate.

The gross figures are our estimates. Each is the starting basic plus dearness allowance at 37.31 percent, under G.O.Ms.No.60 of 20 October 2025, plus house rent allowance at 16 percent, the rate in the 13 district headquarters cities. On the lowest slab, 10 percent, a Deputy Tahsildar's estimate is 65,656. The pension contribution, income tax, city allowance and special pay are left out, so the salary credited to your account will differ from this column.

Pay barely separates most of the list. 495 of the 673 posts start within 4,860 rupees of each other, so order your post preferences by the work and the place, and let pay break a tie.

Age limit for OC, BC, SC and ST

Work out your age on 1 July 2026 (the 11/2023 rule)

In notification 11/2023, age was counted on 1 July. The 2026 Group 2 notification will name its own date, so this checker counts to 1 July 2026 as a guide. Count the full years from your date of birth up to that day, then the months, then the days. You are inside the band when those full years are at least 18 and not more than 44, or not more than the raised limit that applies to you.

  • Minimum age18
  • Upper limit44
  • Upper limit for BC, SC, ST and EWS (5 years added)49
  • Upper limit for Persons with benchmark disabilities (10 years added)54

Uses 18 to 44 for non-uniform posts under G.O.Ms.No.187. 1 July was the counting date in notification 11/2023; the 2026 Group 2 notification will name its own date, and the Group 1 detailed notification of 6 October 2026 counts age on 1 July 2026, so check yours. Uniform posts such as Prohibition and Excise Sub Inspector have their own, tighter band.

Other relaxations. In notification 11/2023, ex-servicemen and NCC instructors got three years on top of their length of service, and serving regular Andhra Pradesh state government employees up to five years. The checker leaves these out, because they depend on your own service record.

If your birthday falls within a few days of 1 July, read the age paragraph of the 2026 notification itself before you rely on any calculator, this one included.

APPSC Group 2 exam pattern and marks

APPSC Group 2 under notification 11/2023 has three steps. The Screening, 150 questions in 150 minutes, only decides who sits the Mains. The Mains, two objective papers of 150 marks, gives the 300 marks that set your rank. A 100-mark computer test of 60 minutes must be cleared. One third of a mark is cut for each wrong answer.

The three steps of APPSC Group 2, notification 11/2023
StepMarksWhat it decidesPass mark
Screening Test: 150 questions in 150 minutes, five blocks of 30 marks150who sits the Mains; the marks are not counteda cut the commission fixes each cycle
Mains: Paper 1, AP history and culture 75 and Indian Constitution 75; Paper 2, Indian and AP economy 75 and science and technology 75300your rank40 percent OC and EWS, 35 percent BC, 30 percent SC, ST and PwBD
Computer proficiency test: 60 minutes, a short multiple-choice part, typing, a document, a spreadsheet and a presentation100nothing on rank; you must pass it40 OC, 35 BC, 30 SC, ST and PH

Negative marking works the same way in the Screening and in both Mains papers: one third of a mark comes off for each wrong answer. Put in whole numbers, three wrong answers cancel one right one. Whether a guess pays depends on how often your guesses turn out right, and the way to learn that is to count them in timed practice papers.

The Mains floor of 40, 35 and 30 percent is 120, 105 and 90 marks out of 300. It keeps you eligible, and selection above it goes by rank. If two people tie, the older one ranks higher (paragraph 15.7). Each paper is set in English and translated into Telugu in the same booklet, and the English version is used for valuation.

The computer test does not test programming, and its marks never reach the merit list. If you rarely use a computer, a little typing and spreadsheet practice each week before the notification is enough preparation to plan for.

APPSC Group 2 cut-off and results

APPSC printed no cut-off for the 2024 Group 2 Screening or the 2025 Mains; those lists carry register numbers only. The one Group 2 cut-off it has published is for the 2019 Screening: 81.2 out of 150 for the open category. In the 2023 cycle, 92,250 went on to the Mains and 891 were selected on 27 January 2026.

About 23 in every 100 who sat the Screening reached the Mains. The 891 selected filled 891 of the 905 posts, and the commission said it would review the remaining vacancies separately.

In that list BC-A, BC-B and BC-D landed on the open-category mark, so a reserved category does not bring a lower line by default. Notification 11/2023, paragraph 10.4, lets the commission relax the standard only when too few candidates of a category would otherwise qualify. The same paragraph sets no shortlisting ratio, so the 1:50 and 1:100 figures seen online are not rules. A 2024 or 2025 Group 2 cut-off table that names no commission document is an estimate. How to set a target score without one is on the APPSC cut-off marks page.

APPSC Group 2 syllabus: where to start

Start with the APPSC Group 2 syllabus, because the 300 Mains marks decide who is selected and the notification fixes what they cover. The syllabus map lists each paper and chapter of notification 11/2023 in reading order, with the marks each chapter carried in the February 2025 Mains, and links the official syllabus of 27 April 2023.

In the last cycle, 150 of the 300 Mains marks, the Constitution and the economy, sat in subjects the February 2024 Screening had no section for. They are worth starting now, alongside the Screening subjects, and not after the Screening. Open the Group 2 syllabus map.

One thing to keep. In APPSC Group 2 the 300 Mains marks alone decide selection. Until the notification due on 15 October 2026 says otherwise, work to notification 11/2023, with the upper age limit of 44 from G.O.Ms.No.187.

What changed on this page

Updated 23 September 2026. Three corrections. The upper age limit is now 44, under G.O.Ms.No.187 of 14 September 2026; this page said 42. The computer test is 100 marks under notification 11/2023, Annexure II; the 50-mark scheme we printed belonged to notification 25/2018. And we removed a 5 July 2025 test date and a split of the unfilled posts, because no commission document we hold gives either.
